This is a field camera with moderate specification, it does not have all the movements of some Thornton-Pickard cameras and was intended as a beginner's camera.

Originally available in quarter-plate, half-plate, and whole-plate sizes later, around 1909, a 7" x 5" size was added. The camera remained on sale into the 1920s. Separate rackwork to the rear standard was added c. 1909, later the rackwork for the rear standard was removed and the camera reverted to having two pinions, using a single rack, working on the inner frame and moving the front standard.

The option of an Aldis Uno did not appear until c. 1911, the price was £7.0.0.
