The Challenge B was a range of stereo cameras taking either plates, roll-film or both; each model could have either a fixed septum or, for panoramic exposures, a removable septum. As with most Lizars cameras of this period the finish was either polished mahogany or leather covered. Although finished in polished wood this example is not a tropical model for which Indian teak was used with Russia leather bellows. Originally advertised with only the B&L Rapid Rectilinear lens others were also fitted. The price was £5.15.0 for normal finish extra for the teak tropical version.

Today stereo roll-film Model B cameras are often referred to as 'Stereo Dayspool' though they were not given that name at the time; the Dayspool developed from the Model D.

The name plaque is interesting as it lists the Cape Town branch which never materialised.
