The Correspondent is very similar to Sinclair's Una produced a couple of years later. Advertisements claim the camera was first produced for newspaper correspondents in South Africa. It was a very substantially built camera. The lack of movements ensured it was quick to make ready and sturdy enough for use with long focus lenses.

As well as the leather covered model the camera could be polished or 'ebonised'. The Correspondent was produced in 3 " x 4 ", 5" x 4" and 6 " x 4 " sizes, later, c. 1908, a postcard size was added. Triple extension was added around 1905, but was not available on the postcard model.
