Browning was a maker and retailer of scientific instruments. He occupied premises at 63 Strand and later 78 Strand.

These cameras were for attaching to a microscope or similar optical instrument. No lens was fitted, either they were to be used with a projection eyepiece or for low-power work with just an objective.
