Identification:
Houghton-Butcher Mfg. name stamped into the leatherette.

This was a simple introductory box camera, the brown finish is the earlier and is shown in the Houghton advertisement in the 1925 British Journal Almanac. By 1931 the finish was black with a leather rather than metal handle. The camera was not listed in the 1932 Ensign Catalogue.

A reflecting finder was available as an accessory as was a case and a portrait lens. The price was 6/6.

This was the Butcher counterpart to the Cadet from Houghton, it was listed in the 1926 Houghton-Butcher catalogue alongside the Cadet though not so prominently. It was soon discontinued in favour of the second model Cadet.

A reflecting finder was available as an accessory, as was a case and a portrait lens. The price was 6/6.
