The plates making a stereo pair are held in separate sheaths. After exposure the pressure plate is loosened, the camera is then rotated end-to-end twice. This moves two unexposed plates into the image plane. Each rotation moves a plate from the back of the left-hand stack to the back of the right-hand and a plate from the front of the right-hand to the front of the left-hand.
