The Tropen Adoro was the top-of-the-range folding plate camera from Contessa-Nettel and remained in production for a few years under Zeiss-Ikon.

A number of minor variations exist:

  • Opening catch is on the side or top.
  • Screw adjustment to cross front on some models, others slide.
  • Metal tripod bush surround (late Zeiss feature).
  • Dial-set or (later) Rim-set Compur.
  • Rear site of finder is sometimes a pin hole or a square aperture (Zeiss).

The Tropen Adoro was made in three sizes: 6.5 x 9 cm , 9 x 12 cm and 10 x 15 cm.

Its construction is very simple and designed for easy assembly. The price of the model shown here was £16.0.0.
