During the 1930s a number of precision folding roll-film, coupled rangefinder, cameras appeared on the market e.g. Prominent (1932), Super-Ikonta (1934), Regent (1935), Bessa (1936). These cameras moved away from the traditional waist-level operation and adopted eye-level finders, partly for the convenience of using the rangefinder but also because of the trend developed by eye-level 35 mm cameras.

The Regent, produced in Germany at the former Nagel factory, was a very streamlined and well-made camera but the very small and inconveniently placed rangefinder windows made the camera difficult to use. It was replaced by the model 11 in 1939 - a more conventional looking camera. The price with an f4.5 lens and case was £20.0.0.

Variations:

  • Some (? Early) models have a yellow instead of a red rangefinder window.
  • Compur or Compur Rapid shutters.
  • f4.5 Tessar; f3.8 Xenar; f4.5 Xenar lenses.
