The viewer incorporates prisms behind each eyepiece that invert and laterally reverse the image thus allowing films from the F 40 camera to be viewed without the need to transpose the images.

The prisms have a flat surface behind the eyepiece and below the film with a roof between the two. A stand was available. A later model was produced with a plastic body.
