2 ½" diameter tube carrying a moveable condenser screws to a magic lantern, the microscope slide is held against the stage by two clips, the objective screws to a mounting that focuses by rack and pinion, the mounting also includes a light baffle and a screw thread for further attachments.

With:

  • 1" objective with Hughes name in brass container.
  • Negative lens in brass mount.
  • Fitted mahogany box.

This type of instrument was intended for professional use and was very different to the smaller examples.

The tube, which screws to the lantern, carries a moveable condenser and a removable heat cell. The microscope slide is held against the stage by two clips, the objective screws to a short microscope tube that has fine and rough focusing. Rotating stage plate.

With:

  • 1.25", 1 x ¾, Cooke Series IV. Lens cap. Serial no. 1908.
  • Fitted mahogany box.

Probably intended for scientific use.
