Box of 3 ¼" x 4 ¼" plates. Early white label.

This was a general purpose plate having a speed of 200 H&D, later (c. 1909) increased to 225 H&D. It was replaced around 1920. Also available as cut-film.

Barnet Self-Screen Ortho

Orthochromatic.
Box of 4 ½ x 6 cm plates. Speed: 300 H&D.

Self-Screen Ortho appeared in the early 1910s and remained on the market until around 1942 when it was replaced by two similar plates, one of higher speed, the other lower. The plate was recommended for half-watt illumination and was also available coated with a matt emulsion.

Barnet Soft Panchromatic

Panchromatic.
Box of 12, 3 ¼" x 3 ¼" plates. Speed: 1200 H&D.

Soft studio panchromatic appeared in 1931 with a speed of 700 H&D. Around 1934 the name was changed to Soft Panchromatic. In 1941 the speed was increased to 1200 H&D.

Barnet Plates

Box of 5 ½" x 3 ½" plates. Orthochromatic.

Barnet Verona

c. 1921

Chloro-bromide paper.
Packet of 6, 6 ½" x 4 ¾" papers. Cream S.N.S. Double-weight.

Verona gave warm 'mezzo brown' tones and was available in cream or white tints. Around 1926 three types became available:

  • Standard - for contact prints.
  • Rapid - for contact or enlarging, twice the speed of the Standard.
  • Platino Special - for warm or cold black tones (This was probably the paper offered as 'K' Rapid in 1926). Platino-Special ceased in the early 1930s.
In the late 1930s Verona De Luxe was introduced.
