Shutter:
Sector with T and I settings, self-capping.

Construction:
Leather covered wood body.

Format:
12, 3 ¼" x 4 ¼" plates held in sheaths, internal changing mechanism.

Focusing:
Fixed.

Attributes:
Reflecting view-finder.
Hand is inserted into camera through a light-tight sleeve to change plates.

Notes:
Address on cards: Regent House, Regent St. London.

With:
11 plates holders and cards to accept cut films.

To change plates with this detective camera the hand is inserted through a light-tight sleeve into the plate reservoir. The exposed plate is lifted from the front to the back of the stack of plates.

Several similar models were made:

  • Original No. 1 with a non self-capping shutter.
  • Improved model with self-capping shutter.
  • Focusing model (1899) called the No. 4.
  • 'Tourist' model for 4" x 5" plates.
  • Model 1d with a diaphragm.
  • Stereo model.
