Film advance indicated by click.
Format:
10" x 8" exposures on Eastman stripping film.Serial Number:
194 .This is the first model of the Eastman-Walker roll holder patented by William H. Walker and George Eastman. To access the mechanism, the film-advance key is unscrewed and four clips holding the rear panel to the sides are lifted. The rear panel, on which the mechanism is mounted, then lifts off. The film is advanced by turning the key on the side of the box which connects to the take-up spool. The film passes over a measuring roller which operates a click mechanism and punches the film top and bottom. The measuring roller is of small diameter and makes several revolutions for the film to advance, thus the operator has to count the number of clicks (four on the whole-plate size). The patent mentions a cutting knife.
