Views of Buxton. Made of alabaster, 5" high, 2 ½" diameter. The three images are rotated into position by handles on the side of the egg, two are printed views of Buxton the third consists of rocks, crystals and similar items. The images are concave. There is a simple lens at the top of the viewer.

Containing three albumen photographs. Made of alabaster, 4 ¼" high, 2 ⅜" diameter. The three images are rotated into position by handles on the side of the egg, one shows a house, one a street the other a group of people. The images are concave. There is a simple lens at the top of the viewer.

These were popular during the second half of the 19th century and were often sold at resorts and spas. There is no illusion involved in the viewer except that which is produced by looking through a simple lens into an enclosed space.
