The field of view shows two blue sectors of different density in a white background. A plate rotates in front of the sectors and adjusts the light reaching them. When the sectors appear the same density the setting is correct. An index is first set against the plate speed, after the extinction point is found the shutter speed and aperture can be read. The shutter speed scale has an index mark for cine cameras, a cine version was also produced called the Photo-Kino. The purpose of the white field is to compensate for accommodation of the eye. The meter was designed by Dr. Schlichter. The price was 18/6.

The field shows a number of shutter speeds the least distinct is correct for a particular aperture and film speed. After taking a reading a dial is moved to give the correct values for other film speeds and apertures. The outer casing is similar to the Practos.
